Doerr Institute for New Leaders Case Study

Teaching DEF's Decision Skills Framework to university students

Download the full case study.

The Doerr Institute for New Leaders at Rice University reached out to share the course they built with DEF's Decision Skills Model integrated. They selected DEF's resources as the decision framework after an extensive survey of available materials and research in the area of Decision Science.

To explore the quality of their seminar, the Doerr Institute assessed the effectiveness using measures capturing changes in decision making efficacy and other aspects of interest, like intellectual humility. Designed by a professor, their evaluation was rigorous and provided supporting evidence that the course achieved the learning goals.

The Doerr Institute shared that students' reactions to the course experience were significantly higher compared with similar seminars. They were enthusiastic about DEF's model and expect to use it in future decision situations and leadership roles.
